Variables used for adjustment: Age, Sex, Simplified Acute Physiology Score 2, COPD, coronary artery disease, immunodepression, acute kidney injury, influenza, COVID-19, bacterial involved in pneumonia, Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia, severe ARDS defined by PaO2/FiO2 ratio ≤ 150Ā mmHg, severe hypercapnia defined by PaCO2 ≄ 50Ā mmHg, plateau pressure and ventilator ratio the first day of ARDS, and year of admission to the ICU
